Amy came for a tiny little visit last weekend, and we got to have bagels and biscotti with her at the bagel shop! Willa turned on the charm for Auntie Em, who was smitten.

A collection of kid things.
Willa has started saying Ingrid. Well, "Nnga," but following "dadadada" (daddy) and "cacka" (cracker) it's one of her new meaningful words. (And no, no mama yet.)
Ingrid and I were watching ice skating last weekend, and they showed one of those montages of a skater's bad season, so every fall she had that year. Ingrid: "mama, why are we watching ice falling now?"
She calls the cupboard the "covered." Makes sense.
Tonight Dave gave Willa a bath, and Ingrid found my yoga mat and wanted to do yoga, so I pulled up a video on Netflix. She was way, way into it, following right along. I had to run up and help Dave for a minute, and when I came back, Ing was mid warrior pose, popped out of it, leaned back and grabbed a handful of yogurt covered raisins and popped them in her mouth. "Hey Mom, I got us some snacks to eat while we do yoga, okay?" (They had not been there before I went upstairs.)
Her teachers tell us "Ingrid can get anyone to give her anything." Initially, that made me a little nervous — is she a preschooler Don? But with more explanation, it was interesting. Their theory is that it's because she's so nice about it. While most kids will knock each other over to try to get the other kids cool thing, Ingrid is much more sly, I mean, polite about it. "Can I have a turn with that?" leads to a no, and her magic phrase is "But… please?" and then the kid will hand it over. Apparently, Ing will also share with OTHER kids just as easily, so that makes me feel better.
Ingrid is still loving skiing at Sugarloaf. Today she was doing different craft projects, and she cut out a triangle and drew a blue zigzag about 3/4 of the way up. "Look, mama! I made Sugarloaf!"
Willa is still not crawling, but she's definitely moving. We joke that she's like the moving rocks of Death Valley, you never actually see them move, but there's clear evidence that they do.
Willa also waves, loves peekaboo, and is loving the musical instrument collection. Her favorite is the jingle bells and the kazoo. She can kazoo. Really!

Most of these photos were taken by Ingrid, who has learned how to use my point and shoot camera. Also included are the products of our most recent snow event — two snowmen, a snow monster, and the start of the snow fort — that Dave and Ingrid worked on. And finally, the fabric that is going on the new! chair! for our living room. My aunt in Texas has the most comfortable chairs ever, that were small (which is hard to find!) swivel gliders, and I ordered one for our living room, which is going to be so nice when we have people over. And I’m betting I will have wished I had such a chair in my living room for years… of course, it will take 6-8 weeks to arrive, but I can’t wait!

family No Comments Exotic Resort Zoo
We did this three years ago, too, and it’s this weird ranch with a variety of exotic animals that you can hand feed, just outside of Johnson City. It’s probably totally politically incorrect, but it is pretty neat to feed a camel and pet a zebra. Ingrid loved it, and Kate and Matt were with us, too. It’s definitely an experience.

My cousin, Megan, had her baby 6 weeks before I had Willa. It was great fun for Willa to have a playmate in Texas!

I had to get the first batch of photos from my mom, but here are the girls flying to Texas (including poor rashy Willa, who looked just awful on the way down!) Ingrid loved flying,and is already plotting her next airplane trip. (She’s hoping for Aunt Kate in Colorado or Auntie Em in Florida.)

Aunt Kate joined us via Skype, as she always does, and she enjoyed seeing the girls open their gifts, and seeing mom and dad open their gifts from her. We are so lucky to live in an age of such great technology!

Ingrid was very excited to see that Santa had come! But of course, her first visit was to Willa’s stocking. 😉 Santa brought Willa a new doll and some puffs and a new chair for the table! And Ingrid got such treasures as tights, Helly Kitty bandaids, and her very own roll of scotch tape.
